What Things to Consider while Selecting Office Phone Systems?

Office phone systems usually are very different from the standard phones seen in most of the houses. They involve installing multiple phones lines that terminate in one location. At the time of shopping for new phone systems for your office, call volume and number of extensions play a vital role in deciding the type and size of the system.

Specifically for small offices, several large phone system manufacturers design small systems that can be used for 20 or less number of users. For large size business, an enterprise wide solution generally involves connecting one/more office locations into one single phone system. The main disadvantage associated with this type of system is that its installation process is quite complex and needs multiple phone lines in the form of T-1’s or specialised circuits.

Specialised circuits are designed for the purpose of handling large call volume and prove very cost-effective especially at the time of dealing with large businesses like call centers. In small size office with 20 or less users, usually only basic functionality is required. Features such as conference ability, voice mail, transferability and direct inward dialling are generally required.

While office phone systems intended for large businesses comprise of standard features like call forwarding, call monitoring and security levels with the aim to limit which extensions can call which specific area codes. Selection of phone system purely depends on the nature & size of business.

For small offices, phone installation, configuration and setup usually requires minimum effort. Once the wiring has been done and is in place and the phone lines has been terminated by the phone company, the office phone system can be configured and installed with the required extensions. Several similar systems can be configured within say two hours and then the business can start receiving and making calls.

Thus, if you are also considering purchasing office phone systems, then it is advisable to take into consideration the above mentioned things.
